Her heart aches as she

endlessly stokes the embers,

searching for an indication

the kindling still burns.

     Her resolve never-ending,
    stroking him, loving him
    desiring reawakening.
    Sadly, it is not to be.

     The flame dwindled
    until naught flickered.
    The pilot light went out.
    His memory continues.
